June 10, 2019

1) Change your profile picture

No that photo with the dog filter taken on a night out, won't do for your LinkedIn profile. Take a clear, bright profile photo with a plain background. A good head shot will give off professionalism, remember a picture paints a thousand words!

 2) Headline

Make your LinkedIn headline clear & concise. State your job title, what you do, important achievements & add keywords for what you want to be found for, i.e construction engineer. You can also include how you can help the reader. Don't forget to add special characters to your headline (see below).

3) Cover/Background Photo

Have a picture of work you are particularly proud of? Or maybe you just want to advertise your business, your cover photo can do that! Have a picture of your work, team or get a graphic made with your business logo and what you do.

4) About/Summary

Your LinkedIn summary needs to stand out! The about section is the space to showcase your talents, accomplishments and sell yourself. Don't be afraid to show off and explain why you are an expert. Explain what services you offer & how you can help the reader. Make sure to drop in keywords of what you want to be found for.

5) Contact Info

This one is simple, on the LinkedIn contact info section just make sure your details are correct.

6) Skills

You have all the skills, show them off! Add & regularly update your skills section. Then ask your customers & colleagues to endorse your skills, this helps viewers know that your skill set is genuine.

7) Experience/Jobs

This may take a little while but make sure all your main or important jobs are listed and include a description of what you did, skills gained & achievements. Make sure to add the dates and locations.

8) URL

Instead of having the set URL given to you by LinkedIn, customise it with your name. By doing this, you are can now easily add it to your email, business cards, and other marketing products.

8) Activity

The best way to draw people to your profile is being active on LinkedIn. Regularly post and also engage on other peoples posts, and people will check out your profile!

Make these changes to your LinkedIn profile & you will be standing out in no time!
